Welcome to our little flower farm! My name is Jessica. I grow all of our flowers, with the help of my 12 year old, Ella, right here in SLC. I love gardening and nature, and have grown a garden in some form or another for the last 20 years.
While attending the University of Utah, I managed the student organic vegetable gardens, where I learned the importance of sustainable and environmentally friendly gardening practices. During this time, I also convinced my landlord to let me build a small raised bed in the front yard of our apartment building. When that wasn’t enough space, I joined a community garden, until we finally bought our home here in Liberty Wells in 2013 and I was able to have a plot of my own. One of the first things I did when we moved in was to tear out the front lawn and plant some veggies.
During the winter of 2022/23, while craving sunshine and green things, I decided to buy a few grow lights and start some flower seeds with my kids. I very quickly became obsessed, and as that spring rolled around I realized I needed more space. I lucked out. My neighbors just happened to have a large and wild backyard that they were happy to have filled with flowers and veggies. And my garden expanded again.

Floristry is another thing that has always interested me, as has the idea of starting my own business. Two things that always felt a little out of reach. Things that other people did, but not me. So, I arranged flowers as a hobby. Made bouquets, flower crowns, and boutonnières for family and friends as wedding gifts. Then, suddenly, I was swimming in beautiful home grown flowers. I decided to go all in and start LWFF. As I stumble my way through the business side of things, I have loved getting to share some beauty with my neighbors and meet some incredibly kind people.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to read this and to support this venture. I'm excited to see what the coming years bring!
P.S. Ella's favorite job is to help with harvesting, and they love to create tiny arrangements from the little extra bits and smallest flowers. Check out their work in the "miniatures" category.
